Other Activities

There’s never a dull moment at Northland Lutheran! With a wide variety of extra-curricular activities, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. And if we don’t offer something that sparks your interest, we’ll try to find a way to make it happen!

Band

Band at Northland Lutheran is more than just music—it’s an opportunity to grow as a musician, perform with friends, and showcase your talents! Offered both as a class and an extra-curricular activity, students receive one-on-one instruction from our talented band teacher, Jennifer Heisinger.

🎶 Band takes the stage at our Fall Concert, Christmas Concert, and Spring Pops Concert, performing alongside Northwinds and our student choirs.

🏅 Our musicians shine beyond the school stage, participating annually in the Wisconsin School Music Association’s Solo & Ensemble regional and state competitions.

🎺 Select band members may also have the exciting opportunity to perform at the WELS East Regional Band Fest—a chance to play with talented musicians from other Lutheran schools!

Northwinds

Northwinds is more than just a choir—it’s a performance group for singers who have a passion for music and praising God. Students must audition to be part of this talented ensemble and commit to practicing outside the classroom to refine their vocal skills.

🎶 Led by choir director Debra Price, Northwinds takes their voices on the road, traveling to churches across central Wisconsin to sing for the congregations that faithfully support Northland Lutheran High School.

🌟 Their powerful performances are a highlight at Northland’s Fall Concert, Christmas Concert, and Spring Pops Concert, where they join forces with our student choir and band.

🏅 Every year, Northwinds is honored to participate in the WELS East Regional Choral Fest, a three-day musical celebration featuring a Friday night Pops Concert and a Sunday Sacred Concert. This event is open to the public and often livestreamed, allowing even more people to experience the beauty of their harmonies.

If you love music, worship, and the joy of sharing your voice, Northwinds is the place for you!

Theater

🎭 Theater at Northland Lutheran brings stories to life each March with a Children’s Theater production for area grade schoolers. This exciting production welcomes everyone—whether you love acting, set design, costuming, or behind-the-scenes creativity, there’s a place for you!

✨ Rehearsals begin shortly after Christmas break and lead up to a weekend of performances in early March. Practices are held most days after school, giving students plenty of time to perfect their roles and bring the show to life.

🎬 Directed by Becca Hussman, this production is a fantastic way to have fun, express creativity, and share the joy of storytelling with young audiences. Come be a part of the magic!

Forensics

🗣️ Forensics at Northland Lutheran is where public speaking meets performance! This team of individuals hones their skills by rehearsing speeches to compete in regional and sectional forensics competitions against area high schools.

🏅 Northland’s forensics team has a strong tradition of success, with many members achieving great results in recent seasons. Whether you’re passionate about persuasive speaking, storytelling, dramatic interpretation, or poetry reading, forensics is the perfect place to build confidence and sharpen communication skills.

📅 Practices are occasional and often held during the school day, making it easy for students to get involved.

🎤 Led by coach Jennifer Heisinger, this team is the perfect opportunity to find your voice and make an impact!

Robotics

🤖 What’s more exciting than using technology and ingenuity to create the ultimate battle bot? At Northland Lutheran, students can unleash their creativity by joining the Robotics Club, which utilizes the REC Foundation’s VEX family of robotics programs.

⚙️ These hands-on, high-energy programs are designed to develop real-world skills in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM)—preparing students for future careers in an ever-evolving tech-driven world.

🔧 After school, students collaborate to plan, design, build, and test their robots, fine-tuning them for competition. Throughout the year, the team takes their creations to the next level by competing in multiple robotics competitions, putting their designs and strategies to the test.

Yearbook

📖 Be part of the team that brings the school year to life! The Yearbook Committee works throughout the year to plan, design, and create a keepsake that students will cherish for years to come.

📸 From taking photos at events to crafting creative layouts, committee members capture the best moments of the year and turn them into a polished, professional-quality yearbook.

⏳ With a publishing deadline in mid-March, most of the work—snapping pictures, designing pages, and organizing content—happens gradually throughout the school year.

🥪 Meetings are occasional and often held during lunch, making it easy for students to get involved.

🎨 Anyone is welcome to join! Whether you love photography, graphic design, writing, or just want to help document Northland’s unforgettable moments, there’s a place for you on the Yearbook Committee!

Skiing

The Ski Club is a fantastic opportunity for any student to get involved in the exciting world of downhill skiing or snowboarding! Whether you’re a seasoned pro or a complete beginner, there’s a spot for you. If you’ve never skied or boarded before, don’t worry – you’ll receive a lesson on your first visit, plus the chance to rent equipment and enjoy skiing or snowboarding for the rest of the season!

We take multiple trips to Granite Peak throughout the season, making it easy and affordable to get your ski/board on. This year, we hit the slopes on Wednesday nights for just $15 per visit for lift tickets. Need to rent gear? It’s only $9 for skis/snowboard, boots, and poles, and $6 for a helmet. The first lesson is also just $15.

You can join for just one visit, or come along for the whole season! Don’t miss out on the fun, challenge yourself, and make some incredible memories with friends!
